How would you like your budget vacation in Berlin? With wooden floors and huge windows? Near the city’s nightlife center? With a literary touch? With a vegan option? Close to a whole world of shopping or perhaps far from all the commotion? Here are some great not-so-expensive hotels in the city.
Adina Apartment Hotel Berlin Hauptbahnhof
Hauptbahnhof is the German word for a central station or a main bus and train station. Adina is a 10-minute walk from the station, making it easy to reach Berlin’s main destinations. This 4-star hotel with indoor pool and air-conditioned apartments is well designed. At the entrance you will be impressed by the charming lobby that leads to the restaurant and bar. Choose from 2-room apartments, 1 room or studio.
In a short walk you will find the Nature Museum and the shops of Friedrichstrasse. If you want to go a little more, it takes 20 minutes to reach the number one attraction of Berlin, the Brandenburg Gate. You can also visit the Reichsag at the same opportunity. There are 139 rooms in this hotel.

Let’s not talk about the spa and the gym, the Wi-Fi or private parking, let’s talk about the location of the hotel. 200 meters from the Küdamm – Berlin’s famous shopping street – you will not be able to stand up to the temptations of shopping.
There are two buildings that make up the complex, one old and restored and one new behind. The rooms have wooden floors, large windows, a safe for your lap top, a flat-screen TV, automatic room temperature control, USB jacks and other treats that match the spirit of the time.
The hotel has a nice restaurant that also offers Mediterranean cuisine. Around the hotel you will find all the possibilities you can think of. The Kurfürstendamm Underground Station is as close as possible and if you walk ten minutes you can go straight to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church or the stunning Berlin Zoo (the largest in Europe). The hotel has a total of 199 rooms.

Crowne Plaza Berlin Potsdamer Platz
This hotel is not exactly in the center of things but is definitely accessible to the city’s top attractions. It is also an advantage for those who seek quiet and distance from the noise and the commotion. The Crowne Plaza Berlin Potsdamer Platz has a wellness center and as the name of the hotel implies it takes a leisurely stroll to Potsdamer Platz.
The rooms are of a proper size, not too small, and very well designed. The hotel’s restaurant also has options for vegetarians and vegans. Ostensibly a natural matter in Berlin but not all hotels offer this.
Opposite the hotel is Anhalter Train Station. From Möckernbrücke Station you can reach public transport links to Alexanderplatz. If you insist on walking, a quarter of an hour’s walk will bring you to the Brandenburg Gate. In the vicinity of the hotel there is the Tempodrum where musical performances take place. There are 256 rooms.

Hotel Grimm im Potsdamer Platz
Everyone knows the Grimm tales, but not everyone knows that there is a hotel in Berlin that boasts their literary inspiration. The location of the Hotel Grimm in Potsdam Square was once in the buffer zone between West and East Berlin and in fact was considered an area where no one walks around. Since then things have changed and today the location is no less than prime location.
The 110 rooms in the hotel are decorated with the stories of the brothers Grimm even if the version is more convenient for the tourist. Among other things you will be able to see unique wallpaper with visual and textual elements from the same tales.
Grimm’s hotel has a restaurant that is not called Hansel and Gretel but simply the hotel restaurant where you will eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. The beds are not the type of sleepy beauty, and you should expect a modern hotel with bright designs and quite a few contemporary furniture that is accompanied by literary insinuations here and there.

Monbijou hotel could have entered the list of the best boutique hotels in Berlin and the fact that it is also on the list of the cheapest hotels in Berlin just adds points. Just a few minutes’ walk from Hackescher Markt Square, the hotel has a fitness center and rooms decorated in a vintage British style. If the wooden floors are too much for you, you can relax in front of the large windows (or in front of the satellite TV).
Outside the rooms you will find a restaurant, a bistro and a library area (how nice) that will allow you to read a book comfortably. Apart from the Hackescher Markt and the Bahn (150 meters from the hotel door), which connects you to Alexanderplatz or the Friedrichstraße shopping mall, the Museum Island is about half a kilometer from the hotel – an experience for archaeologists, history and culture lovers in general.

In Prenzlauer Berg Berlin’s trendy neighborhood you can enjoy this tiny hotel (recommended for those who prefer not to get lost in a huge hotel). This 19th-century residence has been renovated and offers rooms and apartments with traditional wooden furniture and luxury parquet floors.
The building is just a 5-minute walk from the underground station of the popular Eberswalder and Mauerpark. In Mauer Park you will discover many activities as well as the popular flea market every Sunday. The hotel also has rooms and apartments in other buildings in the nearby Mitte district.
On the entry level is Linen Cafe. Alexander Square (Alexanderplatz) is only 10 minutes away by public transport and there is also a bus service to Tegel Airport. The studios and the large apartment in Mitte are 3 km away.
